There are many gaps in the information marked with ?, if you have first-hand knowledge or documentation to improve the data please share!

If your C270 is not included in the fleet registry please add your info so we have a more complete picture of the production run.

Catalina 270 production ran from 1992 to 2006(?) with a total number of at least 359 boats built. The peak years were 1994 and 1995, more boats were produced in those two years than in the decade to follow.

This is based on the fleet registry info but we are missing many boats in the database. Hull #359 from 2006 is the newest boat in the registry but we don't know when production truly ended.

If anyone has copies of original brochures, option/price sheets or any other dealer or factory material from any years which helps document the production history, please share!

Engines

Three engines models were used during the production run:

Options

Standard & LE

During the early years from 1992 to (at least?) 1996 there were two models of the C270: standard and LE.

There has been partly inconclusive discussion on the C270 list as to exactly which options were part of LE package. There is general consensus that LE package included the water heater, pressurized water system, transom shower, electric bilge pump (in addition to the manual pump). It is possible that the contents of the LE package changed from year to year as well which would make the answer more complicated.

The 1992 brochure (see links) lists a very long list of seemingly standard features under the LE package. Note that this brochure was printed in 10/1992 which is prior to launch of the C270 in 12/1992. It is possible that some of these became standard (for example, twin batteries) by the time production started.

In the later years the LE package was dropped and all the options in it became standard.

Aft winches and track

The default configuration included two winches on the cabin top and associated inboard jib tracks.  A factory option was an additional pair of aft winches near the helm and matching outboard jib tracks. This was an independent option and it appears most boats did not come from the factory with it. Several owners have added these later using the factory diagrams.

Keel

The C270 was available with a choice of a wing keel or a full fin keel. Both keel options were available during all production years. (as far as I know?)

Build variations

Other build variations occurred during the production run which include:

Rigging

Boom

#166 has a Isomat NB-26 boom (https://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Isomat_Spars/Isomat_Booms/NB26_boom.php)
#285 has a Sparcraft FB-125 boom (https://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Sparcraft_Spars/FB_Booms/FB125_boom.php)

Mast

Engine cover style and cabin ladder

The engine cover varied slightly over the years. It appears to be tied to the type of engine installed (which makes sense, but we have a small sample size of images). The Perkins engine cover has a flat top and straight edges. The Westerbeke and Yanmar cover (they appear to be the same) has more rounded edges. See sample photos in the step style photos below.

The steps from the cabin to the cockpit have a few variations over the years:

Footnotes

The registry also tracks boats with a mast tabernacle but as far as I know this was not a factory option. If anyone knows otherwise please share.
